Wireless Security Cameras Provide Security with No Strings Attached
These wireless home security cameras use Wifi signals, not ethernet cables, to transmit video and audio to a hub recorder and/or over the internet. This eliminates the need for the security cameras to be hardwired into your home. Simply charge the battery powered wireless cameras or connect them to a solar panel for constant charging, then mount them anywhere you like within Wifi range.

What are standalone wireless cameras?
Stand-alone cameras are wireless home security cameras that don’t connect to NVR (or DVR) recorders. Instead, they save footage directly to the cloud, or in some cases on a MicroSD card. You can access your footage anytime through the Swann Security app. Swann’s Xtreem4K Camera is a great standalone camera in the Wireless security camera range.
-
Are wireless home security cameras completely wire free?
Yes. Wireless cameras run off rechargeable batteries and, once charged, can operate completely wire-free. To avoid having to manually recharge, most wireless home security cameras have the option to connect to a solar charging panel for 'set and forget' constantly-charged operation.
-
How are wireless home security cameras different from wired cameras?
As the name suggests, Wired systems require a cabled connection between the cameras and a recorder box. Wireless or wire-free cameras run off rechargeable battery power (or can use solar charging) and also transmit video and audio via Wifi. Most wireless CCTV cameras transmit directly to the local storage – MicroSD card or Hard Drive – and to the cloud via the internet but some also have a local Wifi via the power hub (which is connected to power and internet via cables).
-
How can I add additional wireless security cameras to my system?
Most Swann Wireless Kit Hubs can support up to 8 cameras. All you need to do is purchase an add-on camera and follow the instructions to pair it with your wireless hub and your Swann Security App. Within minutes you can finish setting it up.
-
How do I see the video footage?
You can see live and recorded video on the Swann Security app. Alternatively you can connect the Hub to a TV using an HDMI cable to view the video footage.
-
How many cameras can I use in a wireless home security system
Most Swann Wireless Kit Hubs can support up to 8 cameras. The MaxRanger4K and AllSecure4K Kits come in combinations of two to four cameras, so it’s possible to purchase add-on cameras to expand your surveillance area. You can easily buy add-on cameras for Swann Security Systems on Swann.com. If you are using a standalone wireless camera, such as the Xtreem4K, you can add as many as you need, as they do not need a Hub to connect to. However, it’s important that your Wi-Fi connection has enough bandwidth to accommodate them.
-
What internet speed do I need for a wireless security camera system?
Wifi enabled Swann devices work well with at least 1Mbps of upload bandwidth, although 2Mbps or greater is ideal.
